Privacy policy
Last updated: August 2026. This document precisely describes what HaitiScope collects today — it will be updated as the product evolves (accounts, alerts, etc.).
What we collect
- Community rate reports (the "What rate did you get?" feature): the rate entered, an optional amount, an optional free-text location, and the timestamp. These reports aren't linked to any account — none exist.
- IP address: used only to limit abuse (preventing a single source from flooding reports), in hashed form (SHA-256) — never stored in plain text, never shared with a third party.
- Technical server logs (endpoint called, response code, timestamp) kept for debugging and reliability, not resold or used for advertising purposes.
- Display preference (light/dark theme): stored only in the browser (localStorage), never sent to our servers.
What we don't do
- No user account or personal identifier associated with the data above.
- No advertising profiling, no reselling of data to third parties.
- No third-party analytics tool (Google Analytics or equivalent) as of today — see the Cookies page.
Retention period
Rates (official, market, synthetic) and community reports are kept indefinitely: they form the product's public history, as any exchange-rate service would. Raw technical logs are kept for a limited time for debugging purposes.
Your rights
Since community reports aren't linked to any personal identifier, we can't individually locate a contribution to modify or delete it on simple request, unless you can provide us with enough detail to identify it (date, approximate time, values entered). Please don't include identifying information in the "city/neighborhood" field.
Note
HaitiScope is an independent project under construction, not yet incorporated — this document describes our actual practices but doesn't constitute legal advice. A review by a legal professional is recommended before any expanded commercial use of the service.
